Candle Care

To ensure you have a long lasting, full fragranced soy candle you should be following this information:

Creating a burn memory -
The first time you light your candle make sure to allow the wax to melt evenly all the way to the outer edges of the glass, this will create a burn memory. This will prevent tunnelling and ensures that you get the maximum fragrance and burn time. This is the same for our soy wax melts.

Trim the wick -
Soy wax does not burn as hot as paraffin wax, this means that soy wax candles require a thicker wick which needs to be trimmed regularly. Always remember to trim your wick before lighting to approximately 6-8mm, this will promote an even burn, ensure a long lasting fragrance and burn time and help to prevent and black smudges on the glass or wax. Be sure not to over trim your wick as this may prevent you from being able to light your candle or may shorten your candles burn time.

Burning -
Always ensure that there is at least 1cm of wax left at the end of burning your candle, if you do let it continue to burn with less than 1cm of wax this may cause the glass to overheat, crack, smash and possibly become flammable (this is the same for candles in tins). The maximum burn time for your candle should not exceed 4.5 hours.
Never leave candles burning unattended, keep them within your sight at all times. Ensure that you are always burning your candle on a stable, even and non-flammable surface.
When extinguishing your candle try not to blow it out, try to always use a candle snuffer, this will help prevent the wick from smoking and will help you light it next time.

Appearance -
Please remember that all of the candles are hand poured and not mass produced, although all effort is made to ensure consistency every candle will be different. This can range from and uneven look in the wax at the top of the candle, a slightly off centred wick and wet patches on the sides of the glass, these will not affect the burn of your candle in any way.
